Motorcycle Transport USA – without Packaging
In case of a transport via ro-ro vessel and/or in a collection container for vehicles, no packaging for transport is required, the motorcycle will be transported loosely.
Transport to the US (unpacked)
The motorcycle will be shipped via ro-ro vessel. Potential destinations are New York, Brunswick/GA, Galveston/TX, Port Hueneme/CA and Tacoma/WA. You also have the option to book just a one-way transport. The approximate duration of transport will be between 14 days and 5 weeks.
The motorcycle will be shipped loosely, panniers and topcase may remain at your bike. However, they have to be empty and accessible. It is not allowed to stow further baggage.
It is possible to retrieve the unpacked motorcycle at your premises.
Return Transport (unpacked)
Your motorcycle will be transported in a collection container that is exclusively used for vehicles. Potential delivery points are Los Angeles, New York and Miami. The port of destination is Bremerhaven. Baggage may remain at your motorcycle if it is accessible. You also have the option to book just a one-way transport. Our partner at the destination takes care of the organisation at the harbour. Depending on the speed of the American customs, the approximate duration of transport will be between 20 days and 6 weeks. It is possible to deliver the unpacked motorcycle to your premises.
At the Destination
Please contact the local representation of your shipping company after your arrival. After payment of local fees, customs clearance will be effected. Now you just need to pick up your motorcycle and off you go! The approximate time duration comes to 1 day.
At the Port of Return
Please contact our forwarding agent a few days prior to return transport and agree an appointment. After your vacation, the motorcycle will be handed over. Anything else will be organised by us here in Hamburg or by our partner at the destination.
A Carnet de Passage is not required for the whole of North America. However, you will need a so-called EPA exemption for a temporary import. You will receive necessary guidance and the required customs documents after your booking. These documents must be postmarked. This is mandatory. Otherwise, an export of your motorcycle from the US is not possible. For a binding information concerning final import of vehicles, please be addressed to the automobile club or the customs authorities at the destination.
Contract and Payment
When you are ready to purchase, we will prepare a forwarding contract. Please return with your signature. A first partial billing of transport will be effected close to collection/handing over of your motorcycle, we do not charge any deposit when the contract is concluded!
As an option, we offer a transport insurance against total loss and transport damage of your motorcycle. The premium amounts to 0.95% of the vehicle value, at least € 95.00. Paint damages and oxidation are excluded, vehicles older than 9 years are insurable against total loss only.
Please note that additional luggage stowed in the transport box is uninsurable. We recommend to inform yourself about a traveller´s baggage insurance. In case of damage, it must be visible from outside. Retention comes to € 500.00 per claim.
The costs from Bremerhaven account for € 1,195.00 to the East Coast and € 1,295.00 to the West Coast plus port charges in the amount of approx. US$ 200.00 in case of retrieval. Return transport will be charged with € 1,295.00 including all port and clearance fees.
The prices are based on current fares and include present fuel and security charges as well as fees for dangerous goods.
